Imagine your child asking you one day about the idea of murdering someone in the name of God, displacing a people in order to fulfill a dogmatic goal, or calling a fellow human being a kafir (unbeliever) in order to attain self-purification. Your best answer may just be explaining the concept of tolerance, but if you are lucky, you will find a way to simplify it to an extent that can be grasped by children. Tolerance cures the world of a lot of its ugliness. Tolerance is related to love and happiness, an associate of virtues and ideals, a pillar of faith in coexistence, and an antidote to memories of war, violence, and hatred. It is strengthened by reiteration and wisdom rooted in a strong tradition. But it can only be firmly established when it is written about and documented, when its dimensions, types, and aspects are debated.
